I think Intensivists deserve to get formal credentialing as palliative care, physicians. We do end of life palliative care all the time in the ICU. We shouldn’t have to go to a fellowship.

As far as the ICU context goes, I would say we've already been "grandfathered in," and yes, that should be formally recognized by hospitals with some form of credentialing. I wouldn't argue I should be immediately fully boarded in palliative care, but hospital credentialing would give intensivists more confidence and authority in advising end of life care in patients who will not benefit from ICU transfer.
