Jon-Emile S. Kenny MD [@heart_lung]

The tremendous, Hospitalist and the Resuscitationist [H & R] conference returns this May 18-21st in Montreal, Canada. I am humbled to participate this year and look forward especially since the conference was paused for 2021.  I am certain that Dr. Philippe Rola, who has been organizing this meeting since 2018, will create another captivating experience for all who join.

I have been privileged to participate in each iteration of the H & R; every year was better than the previous.  All of the faculty and participants are curious, open to improvement and collaborative. The core of the conference is, no doubt, ultrasound, especially because Philippe has been at the forefront of point of care ultrasound in the intensive care unit.  Philippe is a pioneer, especially in the realm of venous Doppler ultrasound; generations of physicians will learn about and adapt the VExUS score, for which he is responsible.  Therefore, there will be much ultrasound learning during hands-on workshops, in addition to the large library of digital offerings to supplement the face-to-face component.

But this year offers much more than POCUS!  General topics include: sepsis, resuscitation, COVID and ventilation, advanced hemodynamics, advanced POCUS, with spotlights on nephrology, general surgery, POCUS for hospitalists and lots else.  The hands-on, face-to-face components include workshops on VExUS, APRV, resuscitative TEE, REBOA, EGLS, airway emergencies, bronchoscopy and PA catheters!

For more information, please see this link, check out the programme and register here.

For my previous H & R offerings, please see these old posts from 2018, 2019 [IVC, Doppler, ventilator waveforms] and 2020.
